NEW News: What a Concept!

This New York Times article explores many compelling ideas about what could be done to address the Gulf catastrophe, specifically the still spewing well.

Reading about creative people offered me relief today, even some hope . . . at least for a moment.

Then cynicism took over . . . I couldn't help it . . . I let myself backslide into negativism . . .

Tony Hayward's "I don't recall"s.  His "I am devastated."  His "I wasn't involved"s.  And his "that was the first time I had knowledge of xyz"s.  Well, they just dragged me back into the muck.  And then Rep. Joe Barton apologized to Hayward . . .

But that stuff's not news, that's just the same old same old.  New[s] would be something NEW.  And at least for a moment while reading this article, I actually felt I'd had an opportunity to learn some new stuff.

I'm skeptical . . . BP doesn't seem to want to think outside that box where it's conveniently hiding . . . yet what puzzles me is why BP's been allowed to call so many of the shots for so long.
